Who I am

Hi! My name is Colleen Runty. I am a mystic, spiritual director, mom to three kids and one Labradoodle, wife, and ministry leader, but most of all, I am a lover of the spiritual life.

I have lived all over the U.S. I grew up in and around St. Louis, MO. Being married to a pilot, we have lived in Katy, TX; outside Chicago, IL; Bartlesville, OK; and currently in Anchorage, AK. I have fallen in love with the beauty of Alaska.

My biggest passion is discernment. I didn’t grow up learning how to be reflective and listen to myself and the world around me. I see discernment as the heartbeat of life. I love being a witness to people discovering who they were created to be and how they want to live that out in the world.

I am formed by the Roman Catholic Church (from birth through college) and the United Methodist Church (from marriage to present). I describe myself as a Wesleyan Jesuit.

I had a previous career as a speech-language pathologist. After getting burnt out, I said the dangerous prayer, “God, you can have my life.” I have been on a wild journey of discovering more about myself and more about God since I prayed that prayer. I completed my Masters in Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology in 2020 and finished my training for spiritual direction from HeartPaths Spirituality Centre in 2022.
